SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE
Monte Gordon is a Partner in the firm's Tax Consulting and Compliance Group. He assists corporations, partnerships, non-profit organizations, entrepreneurs, and high net worth individuals with domestic and international tax services, including:
- Federal, state and local tax consulting
- Tax compliance and reporting
- International tax matters
- Representation before taxing authorities
- Tax planning for mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations
The taxation of U.S. real estate transactions involving a foreign person as a buyer or seller is one of Mr. Gordon's specialties. He is highly knowledgeable about the tax withholding and reporting requirements of the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act of 1980 (FIRPTA).

Mr. Gordon is also actively involved in the firm's Litigation Services group, where he works with plaintiff and defense attorneys in commercial litigation disputes. His services include:
Family law attorneys work closely with Mr. Gordon in marital dissolution cases. He is an expert in matters involving the distribution of marital assets, pension valuations for defined benefit or defined contribution (401(k)) pension plans, and Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs).
The Board of Governors of the Florida Bar appointed Mr. Gordon to serve a three year term on the Florida Bar's Grievance Committee for the 11th Judicial Circuit, beginning in October, 2006. As a Committee member, Mr. Gordon will investigate cases of probable cause when an attorney is suspected of violating professional conduct rules imposed by the Supreme Court of Florida.
Mr. Gordon joined Berenfeld Spritzer in 1999 from Stern and Company, where he worked as a Partner. Prior to that, he was Tax Manager at the accounting firm Pinchasik, Strongin, Muskat, Stein & Co.
